In partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® - Xi Nu Omega Chapter, we continue our commitment to preparing the next generation for success through an engaging Smart Money: Financial Literacy and Budgeting workshop, hosted in a real-world dining environment at a local Chili’s Restaurant. This unique experience allowed our Youth Leadership Institute teens to build financial literacy skills while practicing confidence and communication.
We guided participants through key topics such as budgeting basics, spending habits, saving strategies, and financial responsibility. In the restaurant setting, our teens applied these concepts in real time, calculating costs, making mindful spending choices, and understanding the value of money in everyday situations.
Additionally, we created space for our teens to strengthen their public speaking skills. Each participant shared their financial decisions and reasoning and ordered their own meals, building confidence while learning to communicate effectively.
The session was both educational and empowering, as our teens supported one another and engaged in meaningful discussion. Through experiences like this, we continue to equip our youth with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and financially.
By intentionally investing in financial literacy, we are actively building a foundation for economic empowerment and generational wealth—one informed decision at a time.
