Thriving in Chaos: For All Generations

2025-06-01

On Saturday, May 31st at George Pullman Elementary School, we closed out Mental Health Awareness month with our “Thriving in Chaos” A Mental Health and Wellness Forum. Teens and adults participated in separate and combined sessions to allow for a safe space.

Keynote speaker and therapist Erica Rooks broke down the Generational Survival Patterns from our parents to our children and how we act and react. She also had an attentive audience with the young ladies. The young men had a session, where they were engaged with Behavioral Specialists, Dr. Sherman White and Gabriel Wilson. The adults spent quality time with Dr. Deja Alexander who discussed the message of the event and gave us tools on how to survive this chaotic world we are living in.

Dr. Nichole Mooyoung led an open topic discussion about perimenopause, menopause and everything that comes with aging.

Tiffany Harper led two yoga sessions and Christie Edwards led us in a sound bowl meditation to end the day. There were various vendors standing by to provide mental health support and resources. Thanks to our partnership with World Vision, we were able to distribute donated items to attendees at no cost. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to purchase a variety of wellness products.

This empowering event offered a safe haven, essential tools, and a pathway to peace and resilience, helping participants not just survive but truly thrive amidst life’s challenges.
