On Saturday, July 26, FEOM Arts Foundation, FEOM Expressions, and owners Fensha Hubbard and Osceola Muhammad hosted a special dedication ceremony for their brand-new Litter Free Library at 2650 E 83rd Street, right in the heart of the South Chicago neighborhood.
This exciting project was made possible through a $1,000 gift from the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc, the charitable arm of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - Xi Nu Omega Chapter, FEOM Arts Foundation received this award earlier this year after winning the Next Level Not-for-Profit Organization Pitch Competition.
Monarch Awards Foundation Vice President Sydney L. Adams along with member Valerie Battiest-Danzy and Bertha Atwarter, attended the ceremony to share in the celebration. Serval members also donated books to help fill the library, ensuring that the shelves began their journey overflowing with stores for the community.
The ceremony closed on a joyful note as neighborhood teens selected their very first books, symbolizing the library's purpose as a beacon of access, imagination, and storytelling for the gerations to come.
