Pink Goes RED: Celebrating Heart Health Month Through Fitness, Education, and Community

Mar 1, 2026

Monarch Awards Foundation members and guests painted Malcolm X College RED on Saturday, February 14, in honor of Heart Health Month!

Guests were lined up, excited to participate in Cardio Drumming and Trampoline classes to get their heart rates pumping. We also offered Pilates, Yoga, and Chair Yoga for those eager to stretch, strengthen, and activate their muscles. Each guest received a complimentary Pink Goes RED t-shirt provided by our partner Salt Systems while supplies lasted.

A special thank you to former Monarch Man and board-certified cardiologist Dr. Marlon E. Everett for his steadfast commitment to cardiovascular education and for sharing his expertise with our guests.

Malcolm X College nursing students provided blood pressure and stress screenings, while Get Covered Illinois and Advocate Health Care shared valuable information about health insurance plans and access to care.

We are grateful to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois for providing an amazing assortment of fresh fruits—apples, pears, oranges, and avocados—and vegetables —broccoli, kale, bok choy, and garlic, for all attendees while supplies lasted.

Our World Vision giveaways are always a fan favorite for our guests, and we delighted attendees with a Yogurt Bar featuring a variety of toppings to refuel during our event.

We closed the day with a Sound Bath meditation experience that left attendees centered, tuned in, and tapped into peaceful vibrations for a pleasant and restorative weekend.

Thank you to our wonderful vendors—Armored Fitness, Arithedobi, Get Aniyalated, Jennifer Hill, Nicole Jordan, and Christie Edwards—for their partnership and support in making this event a success.

Together, we continue to prioritize heart health, education, and empowerment in our community.
